Resettlement

After confederation in 1949, premier Joseph Smallwood encouraged the isolated island fishing communities to move to centralized areas. Many of Glovertown's people are here today because of families that resettled from Deer Island, Green's Island, Bragg's Island, Gooseberry Island, and Flat Islands.
